Sentia battery care & maintenance

The "dos and don'ts" of caring for your lithium-ion rechargeable battery

DO:

Do fully charge your battery before first use.

Do routinely check your battery charge status.

Color-coded battery charge information icons are located in the top right-hand corner of the Sentia meter screen.

Do minimize the amount of time that the battery spends at either 100% or 0%. Unplug the device as soon as it reaches 100%, and immediately charge it when it nears 0%.

Both extremely high and low "states of charge" stress batteries.

Do consider partial battery charging practices (keep the battery charged to between 20-80%).  Batteries hate being too full or too empty.

Do conserve battery energy by disabling the meter Wi-Fi when it's not required.

Note: we recommend that you connect to Wi-Fi at least once weekly to check for new software updates.  A Wi-Fi connection will also need to be made any time a new test strip lot is introduced to the analyzer, to retrieve associated calibration data.

Do turn the analyzer off when not in use.

Do set the auto power-off feature.  (Settings -> Analyzer -> Auto Power-off)

Do use the battery charger that came with your device.  Generic chargers may be incompatible and damage the battery.

DO NOT:

Do not leave the analyzer in an area where you know it will be exposed to extreme cold.

Do not place the analyzer near a heat source or in a hot environment (e.g., an automobile parked in the sun). *

Do not attempt to access the battery.  If your battery is not performing adequately, contact Customer Support. *

Do not use the analyzer if you suspect that your battery may have been punctured, crushed or damaged.  Contact customer support. *

* WARNING: failure to follow these battery care instructions could result in serious injury or death due to the battery catching fire, exploding or leaking.
