How do I clean the Sentia strip port?

Cleaning your Sentia analyzer strip port after a spill or gradual residue build up.

To clean the strip port with lint-free paper:

  1. Remove the protective cap that sits over the Sentia strip port.
  2. Using absorbent, lint free paper, carefully blot up any excess liquid from the inside of the protective cap and strip port face.
  3. Cut a fresh piece of lint-free paper to test strip width (or less).  Gently insert into strip port. Do not force.
  4. Remove paper (taking care to remove it all)
  5. Repeat steps 3-4, until paper comes away clean.

Note: While cleaning spills, always keep the strip port pointed downwards to avoid getting liquid into the analyzer.

To clean the strip port with ethanol (and a used test strip):

1.  Follow steps 1-2 as above.

2.  Add a small amount of reagent grade ethanol (≥ 95%) into a beaker, enough to cover the gold electrodes of a Sentia test strip (~10mm/0.4 inches).

3. Briefly dip an old/used test strip into the ethanol to wet it.  Then give this strip a few shakes to remove excess solution.

4. Insert wet test strip into the strip port.

5. Move the inserted strip back and forth in the strip port with a gentle push-pull motion.  Repeat this motion four times.

6. Repeat steps 2-5 another three times.

7. The strip port should now be clean. Replace the strip port protective cap and leave the device to dry for 10-15 minutes.
